Blogger Diarrhea

I need to stay busy or I get lonely when the house is quiet. I hate that. It must be a side effect of growing up in a house with lots of people around. I feel like Steve Martin in LA Stories where he is writing "Bored Beyond Belief" on his front window. Maybe I'm too needy? I dunno.

Red Raspberries

I don't know how to type it, but I'll try:

R. Crumb Thighs

This has been on my mind for two days or so. It's really stupid and doesn't matter, so might as well blog about it. I think I have an R. Crumb sized booty or at least I have the thighs now. Maybe it doesn't matter. I look like just my mom, so obviously it's my genes plus not exercising. So I think that I'm big like that and if I am I hope it's in a good way and not a disgusting R. Crumb way... just like it's okay. :P

"My Aim Is True"

From a very cool Elvis Costello song "Alison". The words are so what would speak to a woman, but seem like something a guy would be so unlikely to say. My IQ is low tonight and I'm not very articulate. I like this song.

More On a Theme...

of depressing, favorite lyrics. From the Beatles "Long and Winding Road":

Many times I've been alone
and many times I've cried
in many ways you'll never know
the many ways I've tried

Adult life seems to be full of actions that echo of the cliche, "If a tree falls in the forest and no one hears it, does it make a sound" ;).

Mosquito's Tweeter

Huh? Just found a Nina Simone song called "Funkier than a Mosquito's Tweeter". I'm so confused, but not at all curious enough to figure out what that's about.

Calm

I'm having some Tazo Calm tea. The back of the bag says, "A single cup of Tazo Calm has been known to have the same effect as sitting for 45 minutes in a mountain meadow on a sunny day with your shoes off".

I highly dispute that! It's good tea though.

The Mavericks Aren't A Country Band, I Swear!

More on a theme of lyrics that really describe love to me. Of course this is from a depressing love song, but most of my favorites are. Maybe just because they ring of sincerity and the positive ones tend to get sappy?

From the Mavericks song "In My Dreams":

You are the dream I live with
You are the wish I made
The name I always whisper
In every prayer I pray

Here are some lyrics from "The Air That I Breathe". I remember when this first came out, but the Mavericks do a great cover it on the same album as the aforementioned song:

Sometimes all I need is the air I breathe and to love you.

P.S. Don't tell anyone I'm quoting country music again.

Not a Boxer Region

Picture 5/9... not a good region for boxers.

Disturbing Idea: Alt.Sex.Hello-Kitty

I don't know much about the "dungeons of the internet" ;), but I think I found one. I was asked if Hello Kitty had hair. I thought of course, no, but wanted to confirm it if I could. So I searched on "does hello kitty have hair". One of the links was to the above newsgroup, which I did not visit. Scared. I won't even link to it because if you care, I'm sure you too can find it on google.

Reminder: Cremation

Even though Costco has discount coffins, please spare me the Lady of Gualalupe casket and just cremate me. I hope I have enough time left that blogging is passe by then.

The casket FAQ is a true LOL. I was wondering the same thing, "Why is Costco selling caskets?!!" It takes 3 business days for the casket to arrive. I guess embalming takes care of that? I guess this service won't be used by a lot of traditional jewish and islamic families then. What would it cost to FEDEX something like that? I know lots of people that get stuff shipped to work because they're worried about not being home to sign for something. A casket might be hard to hide... especially if you have a cubicle.

I like this bolded statement they add:

Additionally, Acts of God, weather-related conditions and states of emergencies can delay delivery beyond the stated delivery parameters.

What thing falls in the acts of God category and not the weather-related and states of emergencies reasons that shipping can be delayed? I have to know!

You can order a casket just for "pre-planning purposes". You do not need to have a dead body to order one. Good to know! I hope they don't get asked it so often, they needed it to be on the web site to reduce calls.

Like this last part in all caps and bolded: THERE IS NO SCIENTIFIC OR OTHER EVIDENCE THAT ANY CASKET WITH A SEALING DEVICE WILL PRESERVE HUMAN REMAINS . Maybe if that is an issue, they need to start carrying the Snow White model casket. It'd be a big seller, I bet!

Lower Taxes So This Guy Can Get a Whole Shirt...

Picture 5 of 9... Upper right:

Indian traders shout anti-government slogans during a demonstration in Delhi against new taxes.

Also notice picture 9 of 9. The world's most BORING stamp of all time.

Austrians: Not for Jacko

I really detest Michael Jackson. Too much smoke surrounding him (re: his interest in kids) for there not to be fire underneath. I just can't have any sympathy for him as a human if all those charges are true.

Another reason he's a jackass: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/4316051.stm

Blackberries

Blackberries, originally uploaded by baglady.

I love berries. They are perfect even in their imperfections.

Pansies

Pansies, originally uploaded by baglady.

I don't know why, but these flowers have personality to me. Maybe it's from seeing them animated in Fantasia. I think I'm thinking of the right movie?

Balboa Park Tower

Balboa Park Tower, originally uploaded by baglady.

When you fly into San Diego, you can see the tower at Balboa Park. It was such a gloomy day and I'd hoped this photo would turn out nicer.

Ranunculus

Ranunculus, originally uploaded by baglady.

This was just after a rain. It was perfect with the droplets all over it.

It's an amazing flower. It looks delicate, but I've had the blooms last for weeks. I took this at Balboa Park.

Water Over Stones

Water over Stones, originally uploaded by baglady.

This was at Balboa Park after and during a rain. This was one of the prettiest drainage corridors I'd ever seen. The way the stones were set, it created a criss cross pattern.

Cayenne Pepper

....is so good on yams. It's strange really. Here's a recipe that combines both:

Preheat electric oven to 425 (old gas oven could be 450). Peel and slice one yam into 1/4" slices. Don't cut any fingers off! Sprinkle with olive oil. My Mom says flavored oil is interesting too. Sprinkle with some salt and pepper and then some cayenne pepper. Bake for 15 mins and then turn and bake another 5-10 mins until they are soft when pierced with a fork. You can also bake a little longer until they're crispy.

Late Snack

I love cottage cheese. I'm going to marry it!

Until it reaches my thighs. Then it's divorce.
