Hard-Headed Woman

I just heard this Cat Stevens song, "Hard-Headed Woman" for the first time. It doesn't seem like enough people value qualities like this in a mate. My feelings on this feel even to private to blog (even though no one really reads this, I don't think, it sounds silly to say that). I've felt liked and prized and lots of things. I wonder if anyone ever felt like this song about me.

Grape Fruit

See that makes no sense... so why doesn't grapefruit sound weird too? It's not at all like grapes. It's more like lemon fruit.

Amelie's List

I thought it was really cool in Amelie how they list every character's likes and dislikes. Like Amelie, I love to crack creme brulee. This Spanish restaurant in downtown San Diego used to burn the sugar with a hot poker. It made a ton of smoke and was really cool to watch. Patrons didn't like the smoke and they stopped doing it that way :(.

I also really love the sound of jars popping, a few hours after you've canned something like marmalade or jam. It's so much work to prepare the fruit, the jars, all the heat, etc. And you're sitting on the couch tired and you can hear success happening one pop at a time going on in the kitchen.

I like having to add an extra leaf to the dining room table. It means company or family is coming.

Never Gotten This Kind of Compliment...

"You have have done such a great job with the new site. May Allah reward you...". I think this is religious double speak for 'this site kicks ass!': " In the name of allah This site is the best of the bests. by thanks."

Fatwa Under Construction

I don't quite know why, but this is really funny to me. It just seems so funny to think of the conversation between webmaster and ayatullah or his deputy. The exchange might be like this.

Depupty (D): We should have a section on fatwas.
Webmaster (W): Great idea. I can make it a top level navigational item.
D: Excellent.
W: I will need content for that section.
D: I will gather some and get it to you ASAP.
W: Great. E-mail would be best, so I can copy and paste the text in.

Note to open source advocates... the Ayatullah uses PHP.

Food Festivals - Rattlesnake anyone?

Before I die, I would like to attend one maple festival. I wonder what the premier one is?

I'd also like to see the cherry blossums in D.C.

In looking for more info on the maple festival, I discovered there are a lot of festivals around the country. Celebrations that honor food products include:

Potatoes
Garlic
Gumbo
Lobster - yum
Crab
Goat Cook-off - OMG!!
Coffee
Roadkill - nice!
Apples
Oysters
Turkey

I would not even want to be near the asparagus festival... or rather, near a bathroom there. Or does it take hours to affect ou and you're home by then? OMG. Let's not go there.

Low Grade Moron, um Terrorist

This is just retarded. I'm very happy it's not a real soldier, but did they really think anyone would buy it?

So-called U.S. hostage appears to be toy
